Brenda L S Matthews 

                                                                                        

Ms. Matthews is a Department of Army (DA) Civilian Systems Engineer. She is a member of the Army Acquisition Corps, Level III certified in Systems Engineering and Program Management. Ms. Matthews earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Jackson State University and a Master of Science in Management Information Systems from Florida Institute of Technology. She also earned her Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification, Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification, Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) Designation, Financial Planning, and Executive Leadership Coaching Certificate. 

                   

Ms. Matthews’ civil service career began in September 2006 as a Systems Engineer with the Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) Aviation & Missile Center (Redstone Arsenal, AL). Before joining CCDC, Ms. Matthews worked in the private sector for Eveready Battery Company, Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), Oracle, and International Business Machines (IBM) for over 15 years. During her private sector career, she worked as a Software Developer, Programmer Analyst, Software Engineer, Test Manager, and 

                   

Project Manager. 

                   

Ms. Matthews is the Madison Rotary Community Service Director, Treasurer of the Professional Football Players Mothers Association (PFPMA), Director of The Matthews Mission Fund, and a member of the Women's Economic Development Council (WEDC). A member of Progressive Union MB Church, where she is on the greeting committee. She serves on the Madison Visionary Partners Board and the Madison Station Historic Preservation Commission. 

                   

As a member of Leadership Greater Huntsville (FOCUS 25 and FLAGSHIP 27), Ms. Matthews and other leaders seek opportunities to improve the entire community. Ms. Matthews is an active life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., where she served on the executive board. Additionally, she volunteered with the AUM Foundation, Village of Promise, and Manna House. In support of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) initiative, Ms. Matthews volunteered with the original AMRDEC team for the annual Girls’ Science and Engineering Day at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). The focus is to keep girls in grades 3rd – 5th interested in STEM professions. As an eCYBERMISSION vital judge volunteer, she evaluated online STEM projects for grades 6th - 9th. 

                   

Ms. Matthews is a business owner primarily focusing on real estate development and short-term and long-term rentals. Her vision/goal is to champion entrepreneurship while promoting generational wealth. 

                   

The small-town girl from Crawford, Mississippi, has resided in Madison, AL, for over 25 years. Ms. Matthews and her husband, Roderick (Rod), have two sons, Justin R. and Jordan A, two daughters-in- law, Cheyna and Dorothy, and grandsons, Josiah, Lionel, and Cairo. 

                   

Hobbies and special interests include volunteering, mentoring, spending time with family, sports, listening to music, exercising, gardening, and reading.
